Nashua North Small Business Management Project

On March 29th, during the 4th block, Mr. Labranche’s’ small business management class will hold the bi-annual Entrepreneurial Business Project.

The project itself will consist of five food stands that students can choose from. The options are cupcakes, brownies, cookies, chocolate-covered strawberries, and ice cream.

Nashua North junior, Luke Peters, who is the baker and stand builder for the cookie team said, “The project made me feel more confident and comfortable talking to people because that's what we do half the time so it's just easier to me.”

This project will promote confidence in talking to new people and a sense of leadership in the managers.

Most teachers simply hand out papers and packets, but Mr. Labranche takes hands-on learning to another level. Mr Labranche is not a typical teacher.

Peters also commented that, “The first day Mr. Labranche was already giving speeches and they were just very relatable. I like bought into it and it was easy to relate to him. I felt everything that he said.”

Another student participating in the Entrepreneurial Business Project is Nashua North jJunior, Aaron Mcnair.

Mcnair, who is the manager for the chocolate covered strawberry team, commented on the pros of the project itself. “ It’s really good with collaboration skills and listening skills. I also get to like have experience with talking to other people and getting their opinions at the same time. Because if I'm doing the project and I'm just doing it by myself, I don't really get that personal connection with anybody else.”

Fellow North junior and manager for the ice cream team in the project, Angel, also reinforced Macnair’s comments stating, “ The pros are leadership and teamwork. You know you get to experience people, like in a more personal way. You get to like be friends with them and make connections.”

This project will entice others to hopefully want to take this class in the future, if they can, and will promote a sense of community and family within Nashua North's halls.
