The 2025-26 NBA season will kick off Tuesday, October 21st and Nashua students eagerly shared their thoughts about what's to come in this season.
When Nashua North students were asked how they felt about the start of the 2025-26 NBA season, they were thrilled. Ben Husson, a senior states he loves the NBA as he and his dad are able to spend time together watching the games.
Fellow senior Connor Johnston, said his favorite player headed into this season was Payton Pritchard of the Boston Celtics. Johnston stated “Pritchard's impact on the game is always felt, he's a consistent player who will always give his all.”
Jorge Cruz, a junior, tends to shy away from the New England area when it comes to his favorite team. When Cruz was asked who his favorite team this season is, he leaned toward two teams, the Houston Rockets and the Minnesota Timberwolves. Cruz said “the Rockets trading for Kevin Durant makes them a much more exciting team going into the season.” Cruz likes the Timberwolves because of the young guys they have like Rob Dillingham and Anthony Edwards.
When Nashua North students were asked about who they think would win the championship, all students shared the same answer, the Oklahoma City Thunder. Their dominating playoff run last year mixed with the same young guys as before, has made them a runaway favorite to win the NBA championship.
Cooper Flagg has been talked about highly since he was in High School and dominated in college. For this reason, Connor Johnston is counting on him to be the most promising rookie this season.
Cruz is taking a different route, he believes VJ Edgecome is guaranteed to find success this season. Cruz mentioned how he reminds him of Jared McCain before he was injured last season.
When asked about who will win the MVP award this season, Ben Husson says that this is “Anthony Edwards’s year” and “no one is in his way.”
While on the other hand Connor Johnston was still devastated from Tatum's injury last year and thought this was Tatum's year to finally take the award home. Besides that Johnston thinks Nikola Jokic will win the award easily and states “last year that award was his, SGA robbed him of the award.”
Even though Nashua North students have different ideas going into the season all share the similarities in which they are excited for what is to come.
