by: Anagha Aravind
Tomorrow is a big day for students across the school—juniors will be taking the digital SAT, while sophomores and freshmen tackle the PSAT. Whether you're testing for the first time or aiming for a top score, here are some last-minute tips to help you stay focused and perform your best.
What to Do Tonight:
- Charge your device! A fully charged laptop or school-issued Chromebook is essential. Bring your charger just in case.
- Check your testing software. Make sure Bluebook is installed and working properly. If you run into issues, let a teacher or administrator know ASAP.
- Get some sleep.A well-rested brain works better than a crammed one. Aim for at least 7–8 hours.
Test Day Essentials:
- Your school-issued device and charger
- A valid photo ID (for SAT takers)
- Scratch paper and a pen/pencil for notes
- An approved calculator (the SAT has a built-in one, but you can bring your own)
- A water bottle and snack for breaks
Test-Taking Strategies:
- Pace yourself. Digital tests are adaptive, so focus on each section without rushing.
- Use the tools. The SAT’s online format includes a built-in calculator, annotation features, and a timer—use them to your advantage.
- Answer everything. There’s no penalty for guessing, so never leave a question blank!
- Stay calm. If you feel stuck, take a deep breath and move on. You can flag questions to revisit later.
Good luck to everyone taking the SAT and PSAT tomorrow—stay focused, stay confident, and do your best!
