Reflecting on the Journey, Nashua North Golf Season Recap By Brayden Ouellet

Despite facing tough competition, the Nashua High School North’s golf team showed resilience and determination laying the groundwork for future success on the course. This season Nashua North finished with a record of 9-17 with that not being enough to qualify for the state championship as a team.

Although they didn’t make it as a team, they were able to send two individual golfers to represent the team. Juniors Thomas Dratch and Conor Prunier.

Nashua North faced issues with consistency throughout the season leading the team to lose by a couple shots every match.

When asked about competition with other teams and the pressure of being on best golfer on the team, Prunier responded, “It was tough, everyone was playing to win but you have to do what you have to do to win the match.”

North did have some strong showings during the season beating Nashua South during the Battle of the Bridge while also getting the sweep at Bretwood Country Club.

Thomas Dratch, said, “You know it was tough but you just have to stay on that grind and eventually it will all work out and you’ll find it.” He said he eventually found his rhythm in the number three spot after bouncing around in the lineup.

Towards the end of the season in a match at Rochester Country Club, Prunier got his fourth medalist of the year tying him with the school record. Prunier commented “You know it’s an honor being able to hold that record with someone else but hopefully I’ll be all by myself with five of them.”

At the end of the season Coach Lane was questioned on how he thought the team performed this season and he answered, “I don’t think the team did bad, but I know there’s definitely room for improvement for the whole team.”

For the last match of the season, Nashua North went over to Windham Country Club against Windham and Exeter High Schools. This was the match that Dratch confirmed his spot in the state tournament to represent Nashua North.

When asked about his confidence in Prunier and Dratch at the state tournament to represent Nashua North, Lane responded, “ I feel very confident in both of these golfers because I know they can both play well and I like their odds to qualify for the next tournament.”

At the end of the season Lane was asked how excited he was to go onto next season with these golfers and he answered, “ Very excited I think we can win some more matches and become one of the better teams in the state with our talent.”
