Hell Week VS. Finals

As most of you must know, the school has spent numerous weeks putting together a play called Alice by Heart. But one thing you may not know is that while putting together such a big amusement comes sacrifices.

Tech students and students in the play have stayed after school the past several weeks to create the sets and props for the play and also to rehearse. However, these past two weeks have been different.

Hell week is when all tech and drama students must stay after school all the way until 10 pm, rehearsing and setting up for the play. Already, that sounds like a lot, but to add more stress to their plate, finals are right around the corner.

When students in tech and in the play were asked about their feelings on finals being right after tech week, the answer “stressful” was very common. “Depending on the day, sometimes we get homework time, sometimes we don’t,” Amelia Brickley, a student in tech, stated.

And when a student participating in the play was asked, he had a similar answer as well. “It’s fine for what it is, it’s just very stressful because you get like a two-week break and then right after you have two weeks of nonstop rehearsals till 10 or longer,” said Declan Corbett.

Although the stress is high, so are the spirits as the play is happening these upcoming days, Friday the 16th to Sunday the 18th. Mrs.B, who was the organizer behind the play, shared that, “The level of commitment was really impressive and the set for the play looks amazing.”

Even though finals are on the horizon for all these students, they were able to make the most out of these past two weeks, staying positive and being on task as best as possible.

“The people we’re working with, we don’t talk to them in school or outside of school, but once we’re in there, it’s a great connection.” Janira Garcia, the head of tech, added.
